Natural Awakenings Bucks and Montgomery Counties PA

Letter from Publisher, June 2014

As I begin my third year of publishing Natural Awakenings of Bucks and Montgomery counties, I’m happy to report that thanks to you all, our community continues to blossom with fresh possibilities for Inspired Living & Men’s Wellness, this month’s theme.

I feel privileged to be in a position to facilitate connections within our community that nourish such possibilities and am always working to better serve this role. My approach reflects that way I pursue the martial art of Capoeira, constantly practicing, stretching limits and challenging myself to better performance. Currently, I am also focused on learning more about sports nutrition and homeopathy. Beekeeping is up next. My curiosity is endless.

I love this quote by poet and author C. JoyBell C.: “The only way that we can live is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open. Do it. Throw yourself.”

One definition of inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to feel or do something, especially something creative. By those lights, cover celebrity Jack Johnson certainly lives an inspired life. In Meredith Montgomery’s interview article, “Musician with a Cause,” he elucidates how and why he uses his career to raise money for hundreds of environmentally minded nonprofits worldwide.

Locally, the United Way of Bucks County, which brings so much to our community, will host a one-day Bucks Knocks Out Hunger fundraiser event on June 20 where volunteers package 100,000 shelf-stable and nutritious meals for area food pantries (see page 6). We hope you are inspired to join in as thousands of advocates, sponsors and volunteers unite in serving this worthy cause.

Other opportunities to improve life and even change course in an inspired way include Habit Change Coach’s one-day workshop on June 20 or July 26 (page 2) and ongoing classes by The International School of Shiatsu (page 16). Perhaps you’ll discover that becoming a life coach is your calling (page 31).

Please let us know what you find inspires and motivates you by filling in the form at Tinyurl.com/MyNAInspiration. Participants will also be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a free one-hour Reiki or massage session from one of our local natural health businesses.

Seize the day, Audrey
