Delaware Valley Functional Forum Meetup Presents Daila Pravs, M.D.

The event promises to be an evening of education, inspiration, connection and community with the medical and wellness professionals that are advancing the functional and integrative medicine movement within the Delaware Valley.
Local integrative health professionals are invited to the next Delaware Valley Functional Forum Meetup event from 6 to 9 p.m., November 7. The meetup will feature local guest speaker Daila Pravs, M.D., physician at Montgomery Integrative Health Group, in Wyndmoor. Dinner will be provided, with time for Q&A, large and small group discussion and networking.

Pravs’ talk, entitled “Case Studies in Nutritional Medicine,” sponsored by Metagenics, was originally developed as a teaching tool for medical student training at the request of medical students who recognized the importance of nutrition in medical care but had traditionally received little formal training.

The evening’s main learning objective is to provide a review of a number of key clinical skills for engaging in nutritional detective work, including:

  • The psychosocial, as well as the nutritional, elements of dietary choices, examining various components that influence one’s personal biochemistry, including digestive wellness, absorption, genetics and transport into cells, and
  • Multiple real-life clinical presentations illustrating the powerful impact of nutrition on health outcomes.
The Functional Forum is the world’s largest integrative medicine conference, combining the latest health news, functional medicine research, practice development and health technology in an upbeat, entertaining way. Monthly programs feature the industry’s leading innovators, and bring an international community together through live-stream connectivity.

“These programs offer the perfect opportunity for functional and integrative healthcare professionals to learn, network and build relationships with others currently working in or wanting to migrate into the field,” says Karen Meshkov, publisher and owner of Natural Awakenings of Bucks and Montgomery counties. “We also hope to raise the profile of functional medicine and bring attention to the movement that is growing in our area.”

The Delaware Valley chapter of the Functional Forum is coordinated by Meshkov and is sponsored by Michael Nicolo of Metagenics.
