Roots to River Farm opens in New Hope

Roots to River Farm is a small farm located in Solebury Township that specializes in organically growing heirloom varieties and producing year-round for farmers’ markets, restaurants and a community supported agriculture (CSA) program. Area residents can now buy into the CSA program with full and half summer shares and winter shares. Pickup will be at the Buckingham Friends Meetinghouse, 5684 York Road, in Lahaska, from 3:30 to 7 p.m., Tuesdays.

Roots to River Farm, which is in the process of organic certification, aims to transcend the economic, ecological and cultural devastation created by the industrial agriculture system by providing high-quality, organic produce directly to its local community. All of the farm’s produce is grown without the use of pesticides or chemicals and with the intention of nurturing the soil and ecology of the land.

Roots to River Farm aspires to serve as a model for year-round food production in Southeast Pennsylvania. One goal is to utilize resilient, sustainable agricultural techniques to create a farm that nurtures the community with good food while also nurturing the soil and ecology of the farm.
