Bikram Yoga Doylestown Hosts Transcendental Meditation Event
“The definition of yoga is union of body and mind,” says Carole Smith, certified TM teacher. “TM and Bikram yoga both promote this connection by using different approaches.”
TM, a simple mental technique practiced twice daily for 15 to 20 minutes, can help reduce stress and anxiety, mood disorders, insomnia and hypertension. “The TM program is different from other forms of meditation and self-development because of its effortless, natural, profound effectiveness in improving mental, physical and emotional health,” says Smith.
“Bikram hot yoga is a physical technique. It is a series of 26 hatha yoga postures and two pranayama breathing techniques designed to provide a challenging, invigorating, rejuvenating and effective yoga experience,” explains Molly Mitnick, owner of Bikram Yoga Studio. Bikram classes take place in a room warmed to approximately 100 degrees with an average of 40 percent humidity. The heat and humidity allow for better flexibility and the release of toxins from the body in sweat.
